Building a Software-as-a-Service Platform for Fun & Profit
October 13, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
We love the Software-as-a-Service business model with its lure of a steadily increasing, recurring revenue stream. Join SarasotaDev as John Corning will show you a way to quickly bring your idea to market with a rapid development platform specifically geared toward creating SaaS applications.
John began developing the platform in 2006 and used it to build TroopWebHost, which now helps over 1,200 Boy Scout troops worldwide manage their membership, calendar, advancement, and finances. A few years ago he created a generic version of the site, Our Group Online, which offers many of the same capabilities to any community organization.
The platform leverages an extended data dictionary to dynamically generate a consistent, reliable user interface for desktop and mobile devices. John will provide a brief demonstration and open up the discussion to how it could be used to exploit new markets.
John ran a public safety software company in Madison, Wisconsin, before moving to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where he was involved in several technology startups. John toured the Midwest as member of the Free Hot Lunch band, a comedy-acoustic-vocal-party group that still can pack a hall for the occasional reunion performance. John moved to Sarasota last year and is enjoying the entrepreneurial environment Stan and Sara are building here.
